SubSnag

Privacy Policy

Last updated:

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Arkalys, a French micro-entreprise (auto-entrepreneur) operating the SubSnag service (“we,” “us,” or “our”), collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit our website, use our software and services (collectively, the “Service”), or otherwise interact with us. By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy and our Terms and Conditions.

2. Data controller

Arkalys (micro-entreprise / auto-entrepreneur, France) is the data controller for personal information processed in connection with the SubSnag Service, unless we state otherwise (for example, where we process data solely on behalf of a customer).

Our application is hosted in the European Union using Render (render.com) in an EU region. Additional providers (for example, payment processing and analytics) may process data in the EU or elsewhere as described below.

3. Information we collect

We may collect:

  • Account and contact data: such as name, email address, and authentication identifiers when you register or communicate with us.
  • Billing data: subscription status, plan, and payment-related information processed by our payment providers (we generally do not store full payment card numbers).
  • Service usage data: configuration you create in the Service (for example, subreddit lists, keywords, categories, presets), interactions with features, and technical logs (such as IP address, device and browser type, timestamps, and error diagnostics).
  • Communications: messages you send us (for example, support requests).
  • Third-party content metadata: publicly available posts and related metadata retrieved from third-party websites (for example, Reddit via public web requests, not Reddit’s authenticated developer API) to provide the Service, subject to those sites’ terms and your configuration.

4. How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • Provide, operate, secure, and improve the Service;
  • Authenticate users, process subscriptions, and send transactional messages;
  • Respond to requests and provide customer support;
  • Monitor usage, troubleshoot issues, and protect against fraud, abuse, and security threats;
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms; and
  • Send optional product updates or marketing where permitted and with your consent when required.

5. Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar regions)

Where required, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases: performance of a contract, legitimate interests (such as securing and improving the Service, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights), consent where applicable, and legal obligation.

6. How we share information

We may share personal information with:

  • Service providers who assist us with hosting (including Render in the EU), infrastructure, analytics, email delivery, payment processing, and security, subject to appropriate safeguards and data processing terms;
  • Professional advisers where required (for example, lawyers or auditors);
  • Authorities when required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security; and
  • Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality.

We do not sell your personal information as “sale” is defined under applicable U.S. state privacy laws, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising except as described in this policy.

7. International transfers

We primarily process and store personal information in the European Union through our hosting on Render. Some subprocessors (for example, payment or analytics providers) may process data outside the EEA depending on their infrastructure. Where personal information is transferred from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to countries not recognized as adequate, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or other mechanisms recognized by applicable law.

8. Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of data and legal requirements.

9. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent where processing is consent-based; and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

To exercise applicable rights, contact support@subsnag.com. We may need to verify your request. You may also use self-service account tools where available.

If you are in a jurisdiction with specific privacy laws (for example, California), you may have additional rights where those laws apply. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.

10. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for essential functions, preferences, analytics, and (where applicable) marketing. You can control cookies through your browser settings. We use privacy-oriented analytics where possible; see our analytics provider’s documentation for details.

11. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16 (or the age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

12. Security

We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Where changes are material, we will provide additional notice as appropriate.
